Posts of Randomness #4: Gullible Much??

ImageDuring the day today I have seen several websites, blogs, legit news sites and even quite a few of my friends on Facebook commenting and/or reposting a photo of a dog fight arena with Heineken banners on the both sides (see photo to the right).

Firstly, let me just say that I love our furry friends, and that I do what I can, when I can. I definitely do not like, support or in anyway condone dog fighting. Also, I don’t even drink Heineken, I don’t hate it, but rarely drink it.

To get back to the point, there are a bunch of idiots out there, including some of my Facebook friends, who decided to jump to the seriously illogical conclusion that Heineken was sponsoring dog-fighting…. srsly??

You don’t think that it could just be a Heineken outlet of some type, a bar, a club or random venue, and that Heineken were not aware of the fact that the venue was used for dog-fights? No, because everything on the internet is true and people don’t use Photoshop to edit photos. Whatever the source of the photo and how legit the photo is, I am pretty damn sure that the least likely option is that Heineken are sponsoring the dog-fight. I’m sure they would have made sure that their branding was removed

Regardless of all my thoughts on the matter, at the end of the day Heineken did release a statement on their website:

Images are circulating on a number of websites showing what appears to be an illegal dogfight with Heineken banners (placed upside down) clearly visible. HEINEKEN is shocked and disappointed by this image. HEINEKEN is not and would never knowingly be associated with illegal activities, including those involving cruelty to animals. This is a gross misrepresentation of our brand and our legal team is now investigating the source of the picture and will take the necessary measures. We ask anyone with information regarding this picture such as the source, or the venue where it has been taken to contact us.

A simple Google search would have revealed this for anyone that had seen the photo and was wondering if Heineken would do something like this.

Posts of Randomness #3: That’s How I Roll…

This morning while tidying my desk, I decided to power up all my PC’s and monitors that I have on my desk at work… It seemed the geeky thing to do, and while I was at it, took a photo and uploaded it on Facebook. I captioned it “This Is How I Roll”

This Is How I Roll...

This was followed up a few hours later by a colleague of mine captioned “And This Is How I Roll……”

And This Is How I Roll.....

Not long after this one, another colleague in the same branch, posted his follow up, captioned “And This Is How I Rollllll…..”

This setup included such wonders as wireless monitors, ability to solve Rubik’s cubes and special 3d monitors among other features.

And This Is How I Rolllll.....

I was just waiting for the next one, which came from another branch, but it was quite a funny turn, to my surprise

This is how I roll

Of course it didn’t end there and yet another colleague in another branch posted this one. This one seemed to end it all…

NO NO NO....this is how i roll. lol.

When I drive to work in the mornings, it is a time for me to think about things; it helps me to de-stress. It’s my calming method so to speak. Except when there are people driving crap, but in comparison to other times of the day, I am relatively chilled out in that regard.

The other day, while driving, I noticed a piece of paper stuck on a power box on the side of the road. It read: “DAYCARE” and had a mobile phone number underneath it. Not printed either, but drawn with highlighters in bubble writing. I am not a parent but even to me this screams, “Stay the fuck away!” When they see a sign like this, what kind of parent would say to themselves, “Ooh, that seems like a good daycare for my flesh and blood, I can completely trust them with my child.”

You could argue that it will probably be cheaper than most daycares that have actual adverts on lampposts or wherever else, but of all the ways you could save money, is your child’s well being one of those ways? Once again, I am not a parent, but really?

Besides, clearly they use the kids they take care of to do their dirty work. Think about it…

Baby

There are times where you just need to vent and for me that happens when I game. I just loose myself in the universe that has been created for my enjoyment. There are very few games I absolutely love and one of those was Star Wars: Force Unleashed.

I am a huge Star Wars fan. Not Fanboy, but a fan… I have the original and prequel dvd boxsets, have played the a lot of the games. But The Force Unleashed just blew my mind. I have to admit here, I’ve always been drawn to the dark side so the Starkiller character was awesome for me. Okay granted, I followed the good path at the end but I had some fun with the dark side.

So when I heard about the sequel a few months back I literally came in my pants… okay not really but you get the point! And this morning on 5fm I heard an advertisement confirming it’s release tomorrow at all major retailers.

I won’t try explain it to you, but just have a look at these:

Then I came across this article earlier and the geek in me wanted to start jumping up and down and celebrating! Christopher Nolan has released the official title of the new Batman movie –

The Dark Knight Rises

Go read more by clicking above.

After reading that I came across this article on one of my favourite blogs: youarenotsosmart.com about procrastination which is pretty funny since I put off reading it to do some other things…

Anyways, that’s all from me for now… but before I go here are some random pictures for you to ponder.
